Did you know that approximately 3 billion people in the world cook on open fire every day? Four million people die every year of illnesses related to exposure to toxic smoke. This number represents more than AIDS and Malaria combined, however since smoke is a silent killer, this entirely preventable problem remains relatively unknown to a lot of people.

Apart from the health complications, open fire cooking is also an inefficient way of producing energy. It has a low energy yield meaning that it produces little energy compared to the amount of fuel it requires. This is not only expensive and time-consuming, but in the long term, it leads to deforestation and erosion of the soil, leaving less land for farmers to cultivate crops on.

The Solution

African Clean Energy’s mission is to enable everybody in the world to cook safely and have proper access to clean energy. The company produces the ACE 1 cook stove, a complete solution to the problems associated with open fire cooking:
-the stove cleanly burns fuel and does not release any smoke
-it can be used with any type of biomass fuel, even leaves, sticks or cow dung
-it produces more energy with less fuel, thus helping you save money and time
-comes with a solar panel that powers the battery
-has USB ports that can be used to charge mobile devices
